The National Bureau for Non-Governmental Organisations (NGO Bureau) is a department in the Ministry of Internal Affairs established under the Non-Governmental Organisations Act, 2016, as amended whose mandate is to register, monitor, inspect, regulate, coordinate and oversee the operations of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) throughout Uganda.
The Bureau works with Sub-county NGO Monitoring Committees, District NGO Monitoring Committees, Ministries, Departments and Agencies, Academia, Media and development partners for effective oversight of the sector. Through these partnerships, it safeguards public interest while enabling NGOs and CBOs to contribute meaningfully to Uganda's socio-economic transformation and sustainable national development.
