Who runs this site
The site is operated by the National Bureau for Non-Governmental Organisations, a department within the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Contact details are on the contact page.
Information on this site
We work to keep the information on this site accurate and up to date. The site explains what the law requires; it does not replace the law itself. The authoritative text is the NGO Act 2016, the NGO (Amendment) Act 2024, and the regulations and statutory instruments made under them. Where the site appears to differ from those documents, the documents prevail.
The Bureau does not provide legal advice through this site. If you need legal advice on a specific matter, consult a qualified advocate.
What you may do
You may read every public page, download forms and publications for your own use, link to our pages from your own site, and quote short passages with attribution.
What you must not do
- Submit information that is false, misleading, or unlawful
- Use the site to harass, defame, or impersonate any person or organisation
- Attempt to bypass security controls or gain unauthorised access to any service
- Send automated traffic that disrupts the service for others
- Republish entire pages or branding in a way that suggests official endorsement
Forms and submissions
When you submit a form, you confirm that the information you provide is accurate to the best of your knowledge. The Bureau may verify any submission, request additional documentation, or refuse to act on a submission that appears false or incomplete. Knowingly making false statements may be an offence under the NGO Act 2016 or the Penal Code Act.
